I never thought that I'd be a published author. I mean, I am only sixteen years old. Just a few months ago, I was a teenage girl hanging out with my friends without a care in the world. I had a job working as a dishwasher at a local restaurant, I have a hell of a good time helping out on my brothers farm, and I'm a student in high school.
Never once did I picture being an author.
But the experience I've had getting this far is a pretty good one. I've always loved writing. When I was younger, I wrote poems and songs most of the time. Eventually, I began writing stories. That led to writing novels, and now I'm here!
People ask me what I want to be when I grow up. And, to be honest, I don't know. Writing is all I can picture doing with my life. It's someting that I hold close to me. So when people ask me what I want to be, I never know what to tell them. I used to picture being an elementary teacher, or a high school english teacher but I don't want to be a teacher anymore. I just want to be a writer. I just want to be a teenager.
Where I'm at now, is where I want to be. I recently lost my job as a dishwasher, so I'm trying to relax a little before I get my license and find a new job. I'm focusing on school and my writing. I'm living life the way I want to live it. I'm enjoying myself, and the world as a published author.
You know what?
I think I do know what I want to be when I grow up.
I want to be a small-town girl with a big achievment to look back at.
I will be that girl.
